With the tracks that VolkerRail constructs and maintains, we contribute towards one of the most sustainable ways of passenger and freight transport. However, VolkerRail does much more to keep our planet fit. For instance, we dedicate ourselves to limiting CO2 emissions as much as possible during the construction and maintenance of the tracks. And we are always considering what else we might do. This is how we came to develop the rail damper, to make trains quieter without having to use high noise barriers.

Lately, VolkerRail has taken a number of initiatives that are aimed at reducing CO2 emissions and sharing this knowledge under the name Planet Fit. On the one hand we have done so in our projects, through, for instance, the development of a geothermal point heating system. On the other hand, in our business operations: our cars and equipment use clean and efficient fuel and we have taken a number of measures in our head office to save energy. But we want to go even further (Forward, Fast). That is why VolkerRail has implemented an active policy to further reduce its CO2 emissions, through innovative measures, intelligent decisions in its operations and through the creation of new opportunities and partnerships within the sector. VolkerRail does this in collaboration with its suppliers, clients, employees and partners. Because together we can make a stand to reduce CO2.
